Prerequisites: Class III experience and a solid kayak roll

This course is open to all kayakers with intermediate or advanced skills. This is the perfect opportunity to get more individual instruction and paddle Class III rapids with our instructors by your side.

The experience was the highlight trip of my summer. I had been "making" it down the river, but that's it. I felt like I was kayaking a bunch, but reached a point that I wasn't getting any better.

The instruction I received from your great group of instructors has been so helpful. They gave me so many techniques/paddle strokes to work on and they helped me with the bad habits I had developed. There wasn't a single instructor that I didn't think was great and enjoyable to be around, both on and off the water.

We call it an "instructional expedition"

We plan less structured time for learning new skills and more time for the enjoyment of running a river. Our instructors will be there for your safety and guidance at each of the rapids as well as for individualized instruction.

Each day you'll cover from 6 to 12 miles, running some rapids in formation, stopping and playing in some, occasionally getting out of the boats to scout a drop. At midday we stop for lunch and/or a quick snooze and then back to the river. By late afternoon we pull into a camp on a spacious beach near a beautiful creek, and wonder how life could possibly be better than this. Horseshoes anyone? Last call for a Dutch oven dessert served under the full moon on the Rogue River!

On down the river the group travels. Each rapid presents a challenge and a reward. The timelessness and beauty of the Rogue is working its magic on you. Rapids you wouldn't have dared a few days ago are now do-able. The crazed pace of the real world becomes distant and inconsequential. You notice that your life is more in tune with the nuances of the great outdoors. In addition to the song of the river, you hear the strum of a distant chord that now includes you in the workings of nature.
