You teach your kids to read at a young age to give them an edge in the classroom. Why not give them an edge in river safety and outdoor education with the adventure sport of kayaking?

Kayaking is a great sport for kids and they usually pick it up quicker than adults! Our Cheechako camp for kids aged 10-15 will have them paddling along with you in no time. With a fun learning environment and talented instructors, this camp is tailored to the needs of fledgling paddlers.

Kayak Instructors

Our instructors get kids started on a fun-filled and life-long hobby by teaching them the necessary maneuvers they need to navigate a kayak safely. The four-to-one student-teacher ratio ensures each student will receive appropriate instruction, while under the watchful eye of experienced paddlers. Throughout the days, the class usually splits into small groups according to age and/or skill level. With a strong passion for working with young people and an infectious appreciation for the great outdoors, our instructors are fun people that your kids will adore.

The Camp

Since 1973, Sundance has an ongoing tradition of safety and fun in kayak instruction. We emphasize fun, while learning through creative games. We also provide the latest and best kayaking equipment for smaller paddlers to help maximize their comfort.

Each day is spent on the Wild and Scenic Rogue River learning basic skills and playing fun learning games. Each evening we'll cook them a full dinner and spend the night under the stars at our base camp along the river. In addition to developing great paddling skills during the week, kids get to spend five days outside with plenty of opportunities to hike, swim, play, and appreciate the surroundings.
